#UGBlogMonth Day 18: Dear future Danny…

Howdy!

I honestly hope you’re doing alright. For my part, I’m amazing!! I started reading a book called The Pilgrimage by Paul Coelho today. and I am literally highlighting the whole book, Hahah. I should do a review about it. I was inspired by @Fiona’s book review at https://t.co/a516S6hSdn?amp=1 You should check it out.

Anyhow, to cut to the chase, I contemplated writing a letter to my younger self but I’ll never encounter her again, so I’ll write to the future Dr. Daniella. *smiles* http://ugbloc.com/ugblogmonth-april-may-2020/

Dear Daniella.

I decided to write this letter to you on the 6th of May, 2020 because writing is our way of expression and love language in our world. You’re the sweetest girl I’ve ever met. I don’t know how many times I’ll tell you that. Your heart that freely goes out for others considering yourself nothing, truthfully, still astounds me even in 2020.

I know you’ve had a shitty upbringing and you were forced to grow up sooner that you were supposed to, and this might have altered a lot of your perceptions, but I want you to know that one thing will always endure. Love. Love always triumphs. Those nights when you roll restlessly in your bed because of anxiety of the uncertain future, anxiety of whether tomorrow will be as you planned it out in your little yellow to-do book (I hope you still have it by the time your reading this), on those nights, I want you to stop for a moment and feel God’s comforting embrace immerse you. Inhale the love and puff out the anxiety because perfect love drives out all fear.

Those days when your doubts are blaring at you, wanting you to budge and slouch your shoulders in defeat, Danny, please don’t let them. I’m writing this in 2020 and I’d love to remind you of what the past 20 years have been like and how far you’ve come to give it all up to those doubts. Joseph Solomon in a spoken word piece you love so much; ‘shadow of a doubt’ tells you to doubt your doubts before doubting God’s promises to lead you to your promised land.

You know that thing we always tell people who ask us what our surname means? The promised land, I know we started to believe that we were actually the promised land. *winks* so if people walk away, please don’t stress, let them walk, whoever God leads to you will stick. If you’re having work drama, lol just give it your best baby. Paul in Colossians tells you to work at whatever you do as working for God and not for man. Because we are running for a crown that will last forever. Family drama? You’ve always been the mender. Don’t let a little fight lure you away from love. Let God continue being the chord that binds your relationships and everything will be sorted.

Sweet Danny, there’s so much I want to tell you, so much I want to remind you of and let you feel and live in this moment right now, but I want you to know that I’m proud of you. I’ve always been proud of you. You’re a true reflection of the mirror our maker placed before us and all the Danny’s of the past and now will always be here to remind you of how prized you are. Don’t look for your gratification and love in flesh because man is but a mist that will pass away. Keep attaining your contentment from God and trust me sweet girl, you’ll never be disappointed.

Go make us proud. You’re such a boss, gosh. You stress me sometimes. But I love you!

Lots of love.

2020 D.
